Candler School of Theology, Room 252, Emory University.
A former Methodist minister for 25 years in Belfast, Gary Mason directs Journey Towards Healing, a psychologically informed approach to conflict resolution.
Lunch will be provided for those who register by November 5.

NOV 17: 7:00 pm Tom Chaffin, “Giant’s Causeway: Frederick Douglass’s Irish Odyssey and the Making of an American Visionary.”
Carter Presidential Library & Museum Theater, Free and Open to the Public.
Tom Chaffin chronicles Frederick Douglass’s 1845-47 lecture tour of Ireland, Scotland and England, including vivid portraits of the Irish nationalists Daniel O’Connell and John Mitchel, British prime minister Robert Peel, abolitionist John Brown and Abraham Lincoln.

Sept. 18: Geraldine Higgins, "Seamus Heaney: The Place of Writing."

Geraldine Higgins will talk about the process of curating the exhibition “Seamus Heaney: The Music of what Happens,” currently showing in the Woodruff Library.
The exhibition features materials from Emory's unique archive including manuscript drafts, photographs, letters and even Heaney’s old desk. Curatorial assistants Maggie Greaves and Emily Leithauser will also share their stories of behind-the-scenes at the exhibition.
Free and Open to the Public.
Sept. 25-October 5: Aris Theatre presents Brian Friel's Philadelphia Here I Come! at Georgia Public Broadcasting, 260 14th St NW. Tickets at www.aristheatre.org. After the 5pm show on Sunday Sept. 28th, Consul General Paul Gleeson and Emory professor Geraldine Higgins will talk about the play and the topic of emigration.
October 2nd: "A Tribute to Seamus Heaney: An Evening of Poetry and Song"

Featuring the Vega String quartet and poets Natasha Trethewey, Kevin Young, Tracy K. Smith, William Corbett, Vona Groarke, Nick Laird and Belinda McKeon.

Based on the renowned Yeats exhibit at the National Library of Ireland, this display of thirteen colorful panels filled with photographs and descriptive text offers an overview of the remarkable life of W.B. Yeats. The exhibit is being made available by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and the W.B. Yeats Foundation.

October 18th: 6 pm DON MULLAN, Irish bestselling author, humanitarian and media producer speaks on “Ties that bind: Douglass, Derry and Civil Rights in Ireland and the U.S.” Don Mullan's book Eyewitness Bloody Sunday was one of the main catylsts for the new Bloody Sunday Inquiry which exonerated all the victims shot by the British Army on 30 January 1972. He will speak at Emory on the civil rights movements in Ireland and the American South and the Irish-US connections forged by Frederick Douglass and Daniel O'Connell.
